Pabna, Dec 12 (V7N) – Newly appointed Pabna Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Anwar Zahid has said that the upcoming February 12 national election will demonstrate that the Bangladesh Police is a disciplined and professionally trained force. He assured that law enforcement agencies will remain fully prepared to ensure a free, fair, peaceful and neutral voting environment across the district.
He made these remarks on Thursday evening while exchanging views with journalists at the Pabna Press Club. SP Zahid said that authorities are working to guarantee a secure environment where every eligible citizen can cast their vote without fear. He added that police remain vigilant to prevent any form of sabotage, unrest, or undesirable incidents during the election period.
The meeting was held at the VIP auditorium of the Press Club, where Press Club President Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar delivered the welcome speech. The discussion was moderated by the club’s literature and cultural secretary, Yad Ali Mridha Pavel.
Speakers included former Press Club president and prominent academic Professor Shibajit Nag, General Secretary Zahurul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Mashiur Rahman Mondol, former presidents ABM Fazlur Rahman and Akhinur Islam Remon, among others.
During the session, SP Zahid emphasized that courteous behaviour, strong enforcement of the law, and restoring discipline are his primary objectives. He noted that the police force is strengthening its efforts to address emerging security challenges through lawful and effective action. The SP said that cooperation from citizens, public representatives, and the civil administration will be essential in achieving these goals.
He also responded to a series of questions from journalists regarding youth gang activities, drug-related crimes, mugging, terrorism, and other law-and-order issues.
Speakers at the event urged the police chief to maintain neutrality, avoid political influence, and work toward building a professional law enforcement system that protects public safety and upholds the rule of law.
Journalists from local dailies as well as national print and electronic media attended the gathering.
