Barguna, Dec 30 (V7N) — A total of 18 candidates have submitted their nomination papers in two parliamentary constituencies of Barguna district for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The nomination process for the 13th National Parliamentary Election saw active participation from various political parties and independent candidates in Barguna district. Although 21 individuals collected nomination forms for the two constituencies, 18 candidates ultimately submitted their papers.

According to the District Returning Officer’s office, six candidates filed nomination papers in Constituency No. 109 (Barguna–Amtali–Taltali), while 12 candidates submitted their nominations in Constituency No. 110 (Patharghata–Bamna–Betagi).

In Barguna-1, the candidates are BNP-nominated Nazrul Islam Molla; Md Oli Ullah of Islami Andolon Bangladesh; Muhibbullah Harun of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; Md Jahangir Hossain of Khelafat Majlis; Jamal Hossain of Jatiya Party (JP); and independent candidate Moshiur Rahman.

In Barguna-2, nomination papers were submitted by former BNP lawmaker Alhaj Nurul Islam Moni; Dr Sultan Ahmed of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; Mufti Mizanur Rahman Qasemi of Islami Andolon Bangladesh; Md Rafiqul Islam of Khelafat Majlis; Abdul Latif Farazi of Jatiya Party; independent candidates Md Shamim and Rasheduzzaman; Sabbir Ahmed of Bangladesh Congress; Md Solaiman of National Peoples Party (NPP); Syed Md Nazem Afroze of Bangladesh Socialist Party; Kamruzzaman Liton of Bangladesh Nationalist Party; and Md Alauddin Akash of Awami Jubo Jana Party.

Notably, Moshiur Rahman in Barguna-1 and Md Shamim, a central leader of the Ulama Party, in Barguna-2 are contesting as BNP rebel candidates.

District Election Officer Md Atikul Islam confirmed that 18 candidates submitted their nomination papers for the two constituencies. The District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Taslima Akter received the nomination documents, with all necessary assistance provided by the district and upazila election offices to ensure a smooth submission process.
