COX’S BAZAR, Feb 21, (V7N) - A man was killed and his minor son injured early today after a pickup van hit their motorcycle in Chakaria upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Hossain, 45, of Baraitali union. His son Shamim Hossain, 11, sustained critical injuries.

The accident occurred around 2:00 am on the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar highway near Nolbila Beat-cum-Check Post. According to highway police and local sources, Nurul and his son were heading towards Chakaria municipality when their motorcycle collided with a pickup van, leaving both seriously injured.

Locals rescued them and took them to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Nurul dead. Shamim was later referred to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Officer-in-Charge of Chiringa Highway Police Station Md Ariful Amin confirmed the incident. He said the pickup van has been seized, though its driver fled. Legal action is underway.
