SYLHET, March 3, (V7N) - State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, MP, has assured that all people-friendly projects of Sylhet City Corporation (CCIC) will be approved on a priority basis. He made the remarks during a view-exchange meeting with city corporation officials and employees at Nagar Bhaban on Tuesday morning, presided over by Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury.
The minister emphasized that projects must directly benefit citizens, saying: “The issue of people’s convenience and welfare is being given utmost importance. Therefore, every project must be people-friendly. Projects that directly benefit citizens will be prioritized and approved quickly.”
He praised Sylhet’s cleanliness and urged the continuation of this trend, while calling for increased self-reliance in revenue generation. Alam suggested constructing walkways along canals, establishing a City WASA under CCIC, and adopting environment-friendly methods in road renovation.
Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury said citizens have high expectations from the current administration and stressed collective efforts for urban development. He noted that building a modern, livable city requires active participation from both government departments and residents.
The meeting was attended by Sylhet-3 MP M.A. Malik, Sylhet-6 MP Emran Ahmed Chowdhury, Sunamganj-1 MP Kamruzzaman Kamrul, political leaders, CCIC officials, and media representatives. CCIC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Rezai Rafin briefed the minister on ongoing development projects.
Earlier, the State Minister exchanged views with officials at Sylhet Circuit House, visited the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA), and inspected development sites including M. Saifur Rahman Auditorium, Dhopadighirpar Walkway, and Jail Colony area in Rikabibazar.
