The closure of fourteen unlicensed clinics and diagnostic centers in Bagerhat has been mandated.

Jalal Uddin Ahmed, a civil surgeon from Bagerhat, verified the information on Saturday.

He stated that diagnostic centers and clinics have been running their business without a license and unlawfully for a long time.

In various parts of Bagerhat, there are fourteen unregistered clinics and diagnostic centers, according to the district health department's roster.

Before this, eight diagnostic centers and clinics were closed for mobile court drives, according to sources with the Bagerhat District Health Department.

The executive magistrates closed three clinics and five diagnostic centers on January 22 and 23 for operating without licenses during drives across the upazilas of Bagerhat Sadar, Chitalmari, Mollahat, and Sharankhola.

The civil surgeon added that a clinic in Sadar Upazila was fined Tk 50,000.

He said that after learning about the campaign, the management of six unlicensed clinics and diagnostic centers shuttered their doors.

He continued, saying that they are still fighting against unauthorized clinics and diagnostic centers.

Sources from the civil surgeon's office stated that the district has 45 clinics and 75 diagnostic centers based on statistics for 2023.
