Rajshahi, Oct 28 (V7N)- The Ministry of Education has appointed new vice-chancellors in five government universities across Bangladesh, as per an official notification from the Secondary and Higher Education Department. The appointments were made with the approval of the President and signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Shaheenur Islam and Senior Assistant Secretary ASM Kasem on Sunday.
The appointed universities and their new vice-chancellors are as follows:
1. Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET): Professor Dr. SM Abdur Razzaq, a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, will now lead RUET as its new vice-chancellor.
2. Bangladesh Textile University (BUTEX): Professor Dr. Md. Julhas Uddin, the current Head of the Department of Wet Process Engineering, has been named vice-chancellor of BUTEX.
3. Rabindra University, Sirajganj: Professor Suman Kanti Barua, a faculty member in the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies at Dhaka University, has been appointed vice-chancellor of RABI.
4. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (Bashemurkribi), Gazipur: Professor GKM Mostafizur Rahman, from the Department of Soil Science, will serve as vice-chancellor of the agricultural university.
5. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, Pirojpur: Professor Md. Shahidul Islam, a professor in Dhaka University’s Department of Mathematics, has been appointed vice-chancellor.
These appointments, set for a term of four years, reflect the Ministry's aim to strengthen leadership and advance academic excellence across Bangladesh’s higher education sector. The newly appointed vice-chancellors bring years of experience and academic distinction to their respective roles, with expectations to foster growth and innovation in their institutions.
