Dhaka, Dec 20, (V7N) - A two-day workshop on fact-checking, aimed at combating the increasing spread of misinformation in journalism, concluded on Friday at the Cosmos Centre in Dhaka. The event, organized by the Press Trust of India (PTI) in collaboration with the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), emphasized the vital role of accurate reporting in maintaining the credibility of journalism.
 
The workshop included interactive discussions and practical exercises to help journalists improve their skills in verifying facts and identifying misleading information. PTI’s Head of Digital Services and Fact Checking, Pratyush Ranjan, and News Editor, Abhinav Gupta, led the training sessions.
 
The sessions were designed to equip journalists from United News of Bangladesh (UNB) with the necessary tools to detect and counter misinformation, disinformation, and malformation in the news cycle. On the second day, the focus was on utilizing fact-checking tools effectively to enhance journalists' ability to preserve the integrity of news reporting.
 
The training began on Thursday with the attendance of UNB’s Editor-in-Chief Enayetullah Khan, Executive Editor Nahar Khan, Editor Mahfuzur Rahman, Senior News Editor Shayan S. Khan, among other senior editorial staff. The workshop provided valuable insights into the evolving challenges of modern journalism and the importance of fact-based reporting in today’s media landscape.
