Khulna, Apr 16 (V7N) – Students of the Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) are continuing their protests for the second consecutive day, demanding the resignation of the vice-chancellor. From early Wednesday (April 16), students gathered and took position at the Durbar Bangla Chattar on campus, later organizing a protest procession.

As part of their demonstration, students are putting up posters across the campus and have vowed to continue their movement until the vice-chancellor is removed.

The protests first began on Sunday (April 13), with students demanding the immediate resumption of academic activities and reopening of the residential halls, which were closed indefinitely following unrest on campus.

Following a syndicate meeting on Monday night (April 14), KUET authorities announced that academic activities would resume on May 4, and residential halls would reopen on May 2. The meeting also upheld the decision to temporarily expel 37 students in connection with a clash that took place on February 18.

Rejecting these decisions, students intensified their protests on Tuesday, calling for the withdrawal of the expulsion orders and the resignation of the vice-chancellor. In defiance of university orders, students forcibly broke the locks and re-entered the residential halls, escalating their movement.

The situation remains tense on campus, with students showing no signs of backing down.
