Rajshahi, Sept 11 (V7N) – Rajshahi University Central Student Union (RUCSU) election commission has published the preliminary list of 255 candidates for 23 positions. Among the nominations submitted, seven candidacies have been rejected, including Sujan Chandra, an active member of the Shibir-supported “Combined Student Alliance.”
The announcement was confirmed on Wednesday, at 6:00 PM by Returning Officer Professor Setaur Rahman. According to the election commission, a total of 315 candidates are contesting for central student union and Senate representative positions — 255 for RUCSU posts and 60 for Senate student representative positions.
Other rejected candidates include VP candidate Sagar Ahmed Mia, GS candidate Ashiqur Rahman, Assistant Secretary for Environment and Social Welfare Shahin Alam, Assistant Secretary for Science and Technology Research Chakma, and two Senate representative candidates Maruf Hasan James and Omar Faruk Safin Azmi.
The commission stated that nominations were rejected due to discrepancies in forms, incorrect information, missing bank receipts, signatures, photos, or drug test reports. Affected candidates may appeal tomorrow; no further appeals will be accepted afterward. Chief Election Commissioner Professor F. Nazrul Islam emphasized that final cancellation will follow if appeals are not submitted within the stipulated time.
