Dhaka, Sep 10 (V7N) – The Board of Inter-Education has announced that the results for this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are likely to be published between October 6 and 9, pending final approval from the Ministry of Education.

Due to the ongoing political upheaval and student protests demanding reforms to the government job quota system, only 7 out of 13 scheduled HSC exams were conducted. The remaining exams were canceled following mass protests, which eventually led to the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5. In response to these disruptions, the Ministry of Education decided to implement a subject mapping system to calculate results for the incomplete exams.

Board officials report that the evaluation of completed exams is nearly finished, and a proposal outlining the mapping methodology for the canceled subjects has been sent to the Ministry of Education for approval. Once approved, the results will be ready for publication in the first week of October.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, the Coordinator of the Inter-Education Board and Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board, confirmed the timeline: "We are prepared to publish the HSC results in the first week of next month, but the final decision depends on the Ministry of Education."

The HSC exams began on June 30 and ran smoothly until July 16. However, in light of the protests, exams scheduled for July 18, 21, 23, and 25 were postponed multiple times, with new dates set for August. Following a series of student protests on August 20 at the Ministry of Education, the remaining exams were officially canceled.

A total of 1.45 million students participated in the 2024 HSC exams across nine General Education Boards, Technical Boards, and Madrasa Boards. Students and families now await the results, which will be determined through the subject mapping process.
