Dhaka, Feb 17 (V7N) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has found evidence of corruption and nepotism in the recruitment of 175 employees at Bangla Academy in 2022. The investigation revealed that the then Director General, Nurul Huda, and others took bribes of up to Tk 1 million per candidate, even for fourth-class positions.

Corruption Details:

In 2022, a recruitment circular was issued for 180 positions.

Tk 20 million was collected from 50,000 applicants, with Tk 5 million allegedly embezzled by Nurul Huda and others.

Though 4,000 candidates were shown to have passed the written exam, only 500 were invited for interviews.

The final 175 appointments were made without publishing the results, violating proper recruitment procedures.

Jobs were given based on nepotism, political influence, and bribery, with contracts made permanent unlawfully.

Bangla Academy’s current Director General, Mohammad Azam, acknowledged past allegations of nepotism and urged the ACC to take strict action.

ACC Assistant Director Asif Al Mahmud confirmed that action will be taken against those responsible for corruption, illegal appointments, and political influence in the recruitment process.
