Netrakona, August 5 (V7N) – People from all walks of life, including local officials, police, political and social organizations, gathered on Tuesday morning in Nandipur Charpara village of Netrakona Sadar Upazila to pay tribute to Ramzan Ali, a martyr of the July 2024 uprising.

Floral wreaths were placed at his grave, followed by silent prayer and a minute of silence in his memory. District Commissioner Bonani Biswas, Superintendent of Police Mirza Sayem Mahmud, and Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Asma Binte Rafiq were among those who paid their respects.

After the grave visit, a victory rally was brought out from Moktarpara Bridge area in Netrakona town. The rally marched through the main streets and concluded at the Public Hall, where a commemorative discussion was held.

Speakers at the event highlighted Ramzan Ali's role as a working-class citizen who gave his life during a mass democratic movement.

DC Bonani Biswas said, "Ramzan died for a cause. His sacrifice should inspire us all to uphold the spirit of patriotism and justice."

Ramzan’s mother, in an emotional moment, said, "I pray for my son every day. Please pray for him too, so that he is granted the honor of a true martyr."

According to family sources, Ramzan Ali moved to Dhaka from Charpara Nandipur five years ago to support his impoverished family. He worked as a laborer at Akij Group. On July 19, 2024, he was shot dead during a demonstration in Dhaka’s Rampura area as part of the student-public uprising demanding reforms and restoration of voting rights.

His death added to the growing list of civilian casualties in the movement, which has since been commemorated across Bangladesh with rallies, prayers, and calls for justice and national unity.
