Madaripur, August 5 (V7N) – Officials from the district administration, police, and various government departments visited the graves of martyrs of the quota reform movement in Madaripur on Tuesday morning. The visit took place at the grave of martyr Tawhid Sunnyamat, located in Suchiarbhanga area of Mostafapur Union, Sadar Upazila.

Following a prayer session, district commissioner Mosammat Yasmin Akter, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Naimul Hasan, and other officials consoled the bereaved family members. During the visit, the family urged the authorities to ensure the prosecution of those accused in cases related to the killings during the quota reform movement. They also demanded a permanent allowance for the families and the construction of commemorative arches (torans) in the martyrs' names in their respective localities.

The district administration and police officials assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice and promised government support for the victims' families.

Saluddin Sunnyamat, father of Tawhid, appealed for swift justice against those involved in his son's murder to ease their grief. Tawhid's elder brother, Asad Sunnyamat, shared the family's hardships, stating that Tawhid was their sole breadwinner through his masonry work. The family, including an elderly father and four other members, is now facing severe financial difficulties. They urged the government for lifelong support and requested the construction of a commemorative arch in Tawhid’s name.

Also present during the visit were Executive Engineers Shahriar Hossain from the Public Works Department, Sardar Shamsul Alam from the Public Health Engineering Department, Sanaul Quader Khan from the Water Development Board, Nazmul Hasan from the Roads and Highways Department, the Company Commander of RAB-8 Madaripur Camp, LGED officials, and others.

In the quota reform movement, a total of 17 people were killed, including three in Madaripur and 14 from the district residing in Dhaka. Multiple cases related to the incidents have been filed across various police stations in Dhaka and Madaripur. On this day, August 5, officials from various government departments separately visited the homes of the martyrs, paid respects at their graves, and consoled their families.
