Rangamati, Oct 10 (V7N) – Journalists in Rangamati held a human chain on Thursday demanding justice, safety, and protection for media personnel following a shocking attack on reporters across the country, including Chattogram Television Bureau Chief and Special Correspondent Hossain Ziad and photojournalist Parvez.
The protest took place at 11 a.m. in front of the Rangamati Deputy Commissioner’s office, with participation from reporters of various television channels, newspapers, online, and digital media.
The event was presided over by Anwar Al Hak, president of Rangamati Press Club. Speakers included Mohammad Ilyas, general secretary of the Press Club; former president S.M. Samsul Alam; M. Kamal Uddin, general secretary of Rangamati Reporters’ Unity; vice president Hefazat Sabuj; Nandan Debnath, president of the Journalists’ Forum; and Shantimoy Chakma, president of Rangamati Journalist Network.
Participants condemned the recurring attacks on journalists nationwide, noting the latest victims, Hossain Ziad and Parvez, and urged the authorities to swiftly arrest the culprits and ensure exemplary punishment. They also called for proper compensation for affected journalists and stronger measures to prevent future harassment.
