DHAKA, Mar 12, 2026 (V7N) – The Ministry of Shipping has announced special launch and steamer services on two designated river routes to ease travel for holidaymakers ahead of Eid‑ul‑Fitr.

According to a press release, the services will begin on March 17 from Basila and Shimulia tourist ghats in the capital.
Routes and Services

Shimulia Tourist Ghat (near Kanchan Bridge):
Shimulia → Demra → Narayanganj → Chandpur → Kaliganj → Hijla → Barishal.

Basila Launch Ghat (near Basila Bridge):
Basila → Sadarghat → Munshiganj → Chandpur → Eidga Ferry Ghat (Shariatpur) → Ilisha → Hakimuddin → Golachipa.

Authorities have issued instructions to ensure smooth Eid journeys on river routes.

Preparations are in place to maintain passenger safety and service quality.

Passengers have been urged to use the designated waterways to reach their destinations safely.

The initiative aims to manage holiday traffic pressure and provide a comfortable travel experience for thousands of homebound passengers during Eid.
