Maj Gen A K M Nazmul Hasan, the Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), gave all BGB members strict instructions on Sunday regarding how to carry out their responsibilities with the utmost professionalism and to remain on high alert in case of any emergency along the border between Bangladesh and Myanmar.

After visiting the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in the districts of Cox's Bazar and Bandarban on Sunday to assess the border situation, the BGB DG issued the directions and discussed them with BGB members at all levels.

The BGB's highest ranking official paid visits to the Palangkhali Border Outpost (BOP) in Ukhia, which is under the command of Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB), Tumbru BOP, Ghumdhum border area of Naikhyongchhari in Bandarban, Hoikang BOP, which is under the command of Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB), and the surrounding border territories.

A neighboring country, Myanmar, has recently experienced violence. Its impacts have also reached the Rakhine state of Myanmar, which borders Bangladesh.

Reports of unstable conditions and conflict situations are constant. To keep an eye on the border situation, the DG BGB traveled to the districts of Cox's Bazar and Bandarban along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border.
