Dhaka, Oct 02 (V7N)— In a series of high-profile arrests, several prominent figures including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Chief Secretary and Advisor Kamal Nasser Chowdhury, former Youth and Sports Secretary Mejbah Uddin Ahmed, and former Exim Bank and BAB Chairman Nazrul Islam Majumder, along with Bashundhara Group Coordinator Adnan, have been taken into custody by the Detective Police (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

According to a statement released by DB on Wednesday, the arrests were made in connection with a specific case, although further details were not immediately provided.

In a separate incident, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Abdur Rauf, a former Member of Parliament (MP) from the Kushtia-4 constituency, from Mirpur, Dhaka, late on Tuesday night.

Additionally, RAB confirmed the arrest of former MP of Noakhali-4 (Sadar-Subarnachar) Constituency, Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury. He was detained in Khulshi, Chittagong, also on Tuesday night.

According to RAB, Ekramul Karim Chowdhury has been implicated in a murder case registered at Noakhali Sudharam Police Station, along with 53 other individuals.

These arrests mark a significant development, sparking widespread attention due to the involvement of high-ranking officials and political figures. Investigations are reportedly ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge.
