Dhaka, Oct 05 (V7N): Jamaat-e-Islami's Ameer Shafiqur Rahman announced today that the party will reveal its reform and election roadmap on October 9.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Rahman emphasized that the nation has suffered from the consequences of the last three elections. He stated, “This government is not here to rule the country; it is here to pave the way for effective governance. Their responsibility is to create an environment that the nation has lacked in the past three elections and to ensure fair, acceptable, and peaceful polls.”

The Jamaat Ameer highlighted the necessity for reforms to facilitate the electoral process, indicating that several fundamental issues need to be addressed to hold the elections. He expressed a desire to provide the government with a reasonable timeframe for these reforms, adding, “We hope this period will not be too long.”

In his address to the media, Rahman confirmed, “On October 9, we will present our proposals to the nation, outlining the necessary reforms for the current situation and those needed in the subsequent phases.”

Earlier, a seven-member delegation from Jamaat-e-Islami engaged in dialogue with the chief adviser at his official residence, Jamuna State Guest House. The delegation included Nayeeb-e-Ameer Abu Taher Muhammad Abdullah, MM Shamsul Islam, Mojibur Rahman, and Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar.

Notably, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) also held discussions with the chief adviser earlier in the day.
