Jhenaidah, Oct 19 (V7N)- Nurul Haque Noor, president of the People's Rights Council and former VP of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Daksu), has announced that his party will field candidates in all 300 constituencies across Bangladesh in the next general election. Speaking at a rally organized by the Jhenaidah People's Rights Council at Wazir Ali School grounds on Saturday afternoon, Noor stressed the need for the government to be attuned to public sentiment.

"We are in no rush for elections, but the government should understand the pulse of the people," Noor said, urging the government to address the rising cost of daily commodities and heed the concerns of ordinary citizens.

Noor, known for his role in leading student protests, reflected on the hardships he and his colleagues faced. "We have endured extreme torture. I led the student movement from an equal position. I was beaten, arrested, and remanded by the police, yet we did not give up," he said, recounting the challenges during his time as a student leader.

He also called for accountability among former government officials, stating, "All those who were ministers, MPs, chairmen, and upazila chairmen in the previous government looted freely. Many of them have homes outside the country. They must be brought to justice."

Additionally, Noor emphasized the importance of standing with those injured in past movements and demanded that those responsible for injuries and deaths during the July student movement be swiftly brought to justice.

The rally highlighted the People's Rights Council's intention to remain a significant player in national politics, with Noor's remarks focusing on both governmental reform and addressing the economic pressures faced by the public.
