Bogura, Oct 26 (V7N)- Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, has urged for unity among all citizens, irrespective of their political affiliations or religious beliefs, to foster a Bangladesh that is free from fascism and centered on youth and equity. He made these remarks as the chief guest at a gathering organized by the city and district Jamaat at the Altafunnessa playground in Bogura on Saturday.

Dr. Rahman asserted that Jamaat’s registration and party symbol were unjustly revoked, demanding their immediate restoration. He stressed the need to support the families of martyrs and those injured, declaring, "It is our foremost moral duty to stand by those who have sacrificed their lives for a fascism-free Bangladesh. We have made every effort to assist all martyr families, irrespective of their party or religion, and we must ensure proper treatment for the injured."

The meeting was chaired by the newly elected city Jamaat Ameer, Abidur Rahman Sohel, and included remarks from Professor ASM Abdul Malek, Maulana Mansurur Rahman, and Manzurul Islam.

Dr. Rahman further accused the current Awami League government of executing 12 prominent leaders, including two of their own Ameers, through what he termed mock trials. He alleged that the government forcibly seized the party's registration and symbol, demolished their properties, and misused police to imprison numerous leaders and activists.

He claimed that the Awami League was compelled to abandon power and flee the country, leaving their supporters in jeopardy. Dr. Rahman vowed that those responsible for fascism, including Sheikh Hasina and her allies, would face justice, ensuring that no such regime could arise in Bangladesh again. He concluded by stating that the people of Bangladesh would not permit any resurgence of fascism.

Earlier, the event included a conference for members, during which Dr. Rahman administered the oath of office to Abidur Rahman Sohel and Maulana Abdul Hakk as the new city and district Amirs, respectively, in the presence of 4,047 members.
