Dhaka, Nov 10 (V7N)— Tensions remain high in the Gulistan area of Dhaka as students and citizens continue to gather around Zero Point and the Awami League central office to resist the party’s planned program commemorating Shaheed Noor Hossain Day. Following a night of activity, crowds were observed in the area on Sunday morning as well.
Earlier this morning, family members of Shaheed Noor Hossain paid tribute by placing flowers at Zero Point. Shortly after, members from various social, political, and professional groups arrived to show their respect.
Security personnel have been stationed around Noor Hossain Chatwar and the Awami League office since last night to maintain order and prevent any potential clashes. The heightened presence follows a social media announcement on November 9 from the Awami League’s official page, calling for a protest march at 3:00 PM today at Zero Point.
In response to the Awami League’s announcement, student groups, referring to Chhatra League as aligned with authoritarianism, vowed to counter the rally. Students and anti-discrimination activists gathered at Zero Point from Saturday night, determined to block the Awami League’s program.
The situation remains tense as both sides prepare to proceed with their plans amidst heightened security in Gulistan.
