Dhaka, Dec 31 (V7N) — Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has urged students to take a stand against corruption, extortion, and tender manipulation in educational institutions, declaring it a "new war" for the nation's future. He made these remarks as the chief guest at the central member conference of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, held at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Tuesday morning.

Addressing the audience, Dr. Rahman emphasized the need for students to lead the charge in reforming the country's education system. "If we cannot rid our educational institutions of these evils, this nation will continue to suffer," he said, adding that students have the responsibility to pull the "lost nation" back on track.

Dr. Rahman criticized the current state of education, describing it as "purposeless and worthless." He lamented the lack of research, excellence, and morality in the system, which he claimed has no harmony with global standards.

He called for an end to violence and corruption in educational institutions, stating, "No more chapati companies, no marijuana smokers, no one with weapons, or those engaging in tender fraud and extortion should be allowed in educational spaces. These institutions must be solely for educational research."

The Jamaat Ameer also condemned the Awami League, accusing it of betraying the ideals of the 1971 Liberation War and aligning with foreign powers. "The fruits of independence have been hijacked by a group. The Awami League has leased their heads to a neighboring country," he alleged.

He further criticized the ruling party's actions during the 2024 mass uprising, stating, "We must ensure that not a single perpetrator of the 2024 violence survives. Those who can shoot their own people cannot be part of a political party."

Dr. Rahman concluded his speech by urging unity and refraining from actions that harm national solidarity. He called on students to take an oath to reclaim the integrity of educational institutions and ensure their future is focused on research and learning.
