Dhaka, Jan 24 (V7N) – Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Ameer of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, announced plans to consolidate Islamic parties under a single ballot in the next national election. Speaking at a city conference organized by the Dhaka Metropolitan South Branch of Islami Andolan at the Engineering Institution in Dhaka on Friday, he expressed hope for the formation of an electoral alliance among all Islamic parties.
Mufti Rezaul Karim emphasized that Islamic parties have historically been used as tools by major political parties to gain power, a pattern he vowed to resist. "The people of Bangladesh overwhelmingly desire Islamic governance," he stated, underscoring the need for unity among Islamic parties to achieve political goals.
The Ameer also criticized the current electoral environment, claiming it lacks fairness and impartiality. "The administration is not acting neutrally. While power has changed hands, the system remains unchanged," he said, hinting at the challenges Islamic parties face in ensuring a level playing field in elections.
Other leaders of Islami Andolan reiterated their commitment to advocating for Islamic principles and ensuring that the voice of their supporters is united in the upcoming election.
The push for a unified ballot and electoral alliance reflects the party's efforts to strengthen its political influence and capitalize on its voter base, amid growing concerns over the fairness of the electoral process in Bangladesh.
