The party’s Secretary General, Professor Mia Golam Parwar, made the statement after a six-member Jamaat delegation met with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin and other election commissioners at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon on Thursday (February 13).

Key Points from Jamaat’s Proposal:

  • Proportional representation system to ensure fair elections.
  • Curbing black money and muscle power in electoral politics.
  • Strengthening the Election Commission (EC) and Representation of the People Order (RPO).
  • Ensuring voting rights for expatriate Bangladeshis.
  • Reducing difficulties in updating the voter list.
  • Revising laws that impose restrictions on political parties.

Following the meeting, Professor Parwar said, "The people want an active local government structure, and we agree with this demand. We also asked the EC to ensure a fair electoral system and informed them of necessary changes."

Addressing recent UN remarks, he asserted that Jamaat has the organizational capacity to field candidates in all 300 parliamentary seats and dismissed claims that the party had not provided information to international bodies.
