Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N) – The students who led the July Uprising are set to announce their political party at 3 PM on Friday (February 28) at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.

The National Citizens Committee and the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement confirmed this during a press conference today (February 24). Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Committee, made the announcement, emphasizing the party’s vision for a just and progressive Bangladesh.

Sarjis Alam stated, "The new Bangladesh stands on the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs and the blood of millions. It is our duty to build the Bangladesh they fought for. This political party will continue that struggle."

He assured that the interests of Bangladesh and its people will take priority over individual, group, or party interests within this new political formation.

At the press conference, Akhtar Hossain, the Janak Member Secretary, revealed that a nationwide public opinion campaign had been conducted over the last 15 days regarding the formation of the new party.

  • Around 200,000 people have shared their views.
  • 30 potential party names have been proposed.
  • Various symbols—including the sun, pen, book, and tree—have been suggested.

Akhtar Hossain mentioned that the final party symbol will be selected during the party registration process.

The announcement of this new party marks a significant moment in the country’s political landscape, as Bangladesh navigates its post-uprising transition.
