DHAKA, July 12 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today strongly condemned and protested the killing of young businessman Mohammad Sohag, who was brutally murdered in broad daylight at the main gate of Mitford Hospital in the capital on July 9.

In a statement released today, Alamgir described the incident as a barbaric act, emphasizing that "terrorism and barbarity have nothing to do with the principles, ideology and politics of our organization." He asserted that "whoever the culprit is, his place can never be above the law and justice," and noted that "the brutal incident has deeply shaken the conscience of the people of the country."

Fakhrul warned that if there is no exemplary trial for such a heinous incident, "the culture of impunity will plunge society into deeper darkness."

He urged the interim government to ensure an immediate, impartial, and credible investigation into the incident. His demand included bringing the real culprits to justice and setting an example of exemplary punishment to deter future such crimes.

Finally, the BNP Secretary General prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of Mohammad Sohag and extended his deepest condolences to the grieving family.
