DHAKA, July 12, (V7N)– BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has expressed her concern and inquired about the health condition of renowned folk singer and torchbearer of Lalon songs, Farida Parveen. The celebrated artist is currently receiving treatment at the Universal Medical College Hospital Limited (formerly Ayesha Memorial Hospital) in Dhaka.

BNP Joint Secretary General Syed Emran Saleh Prince conveyed this information today, stating that Begum Khaleda Zia had personally instructed him on Thursday to inquire about Farida Parveen's health. Following these instructions, Prince visited the hospital on Thursday night, speaking with doctors and family members to get an update on the Lalon singer's condition.

Prince further revealed that he visited Farida Parveen in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and informed her of Madam Khaleda Zia's deep concern for her well-being. He emphasized that Farida Parveen is one of Begum Khaleda Zia's favorite artists and that the BNP Chairperson is a devoted admirer of Lalon songs.

"Madam is very worried after hearing about Farida Parveen's illness," Prince quoted Khaleda Zia as saying. "Madam told me to inquire about her health condition. Madam told me she wants to know about Farida Parveen’s health condition and whether she is improving."

Emran Saleh Prince reported that the artist's condition has shown some improvement. He promptly informed Madam Khaleda Zia of Farida Parveen's latest health status last night. "Madam said, we should always keep an eye on the artist's health condition," Prince added, reflecting the Chairperson's continued concern.

Farida Parveen, widely admired for her lifelong dedication to Lalon songs and the rich folk music tradition of Bangladesh, has been undergoing treatment in the ICU of the hospital since July 5. The 70-year-old singer has been battling various long-standing health issues, including diabetes and kidney problems.
