In a landslide victory, independent candidate A. K. Azad, symbolized by an eagle, has emerged triumphant in the Faridpur-3 (Sadar) Constituency during the 12th National Assembly Election. Azad secured an overwhelming lead of 59,009 votes over his closest rival, boat candidate Shamim Haque.

Out of the 154 constituency centers, A. K. Azad claimed victory by garnering an impressive 134,098 votes, while Shamim Haque fell far behind with 75,089 votes. The margin of victory and the widespread support Azad received underscore the confidence the electorate has placed in him.

A total of six candidates contended for the Faridpur-3 seat, with a combined 210,824 valid votes recorded across the 154 centers. However, 2,200 votes were deemed invalid, bringing the total number of votes cast to 213,024. A notable 52.69 percent of these votes were in favor of A. K. Azad.

In the midst of the competitive electoral field, other candidates made their mark as well. Mueed Hussain Arif, also known as Dub from the Bangladesh Congress, secured 441 votes, while S.M. Yahya, popularly known as Plow from the Jatiya Party, earned 583 votes. Ghulam Rabbani Khan, dubbed Anchor, representing the Bangladesh Nationalist Movement, gathered 292 votes. Delwar Hossain (Ektara) of the Bangladesh Supreme Party also participated, amassing 321 votes.

The resounding victory of A. K. Azad has not only defined the political landscape of Faridpur-3 but also highlights the diverse choices made by the electorate in this keenly contested election. As Azad prepares to assume office, the region anticipates a new era of representation and governance under his leadership.
