Dhaka, Aug 08 (V7N) – Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar has said there is no possibility that an elected government will implement the July Charter after two years, stressing that it must be enforced before the national elections. He insisted that the elections should be held on the basis of the July Charter.
Golam Parwar made the remarks at a discussion titled “The Contribution of Students, Teachers, and the Public in the July Mass Uprising and What to Do” at the National Press Club on Thursday.
He criticized the July Declaration for omitting the role of teachers and students, urging the government to revise it to reflect their contributions. He also raised concerns that the declaration seemed to represent the singular perspective of one political party.
On the upcoming elections, Golam Parwar said Jamaat viewed the declaration positively in principle, but warned that holding elections without the necessary reforms would ultimately deceive the people.
