Dhaka, Dec 13 (V7N)- Leaders of the BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and National Citizens Party (NCP) have agreed that there is no alternative to anti-fascist unity to prevent incidents like the recent attack on Osman Hadi.
The consensus emerged after a meeting between a joint delegation of the three parties and Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday.
Following the meeting, BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed told reporters that despite political differences, all democratic forces remain united in the anti-fascist movement for the greater interest of the country.
“No matter how much political controversy exists, everyone is united against fascism for the sake of Bangladesh,” he said.
According to Salahuddin Ahmed, the Chief Advisor informed the meeting that the attack on Osman Hadi was pre-planned and aimed at sabotaging the upcoming national election.
“The conspirators have expanded their network. They have come to the field with trained shooters,” the Chief Advisor reportedly said, urging not only the government but people of all political affiliations to remain vigilant and united.
Speaking to the media, Salahuddin Ahmed described the incident as an attack on the country itself. “The attack on Hadi is an attack on Bangladesh. Had law enforcement taken strict action earlier against the attack on a BNP candidate in Chattogram, this incident might not have occurred,” he said.
He warned that attempts to disrupt the election through violence and chaos would not succeed. “Votes cannot be stopped through attacks or instability ahead of the election,” he added.
The BNP leader also announced that the party will participate in the resistance rally organized by the Inqilab Mancha, emphasizing that all democratic parties are now united against fascist forces.
