"In 1971, Bangladesh triumphed when the Pakistani occupying forces submitted.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud, the Joint General Secretary of the Awami League and Minister of Information and Broadcasting, stated today that the first task facing the incoming government will be to eradicate arson terrorism and develop "Smart Bangladesh."

Following heartfelt homage to the image of Bangabandhu's father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in the city's Dhanmondi-32 neighbourhood on his Homecoming Day, the minister informed reporters.

"In 1971, Bangladesh triumphed when the Pakistani occupying forces submitted. However, this triumph remained unfinished until Bangabandhu, the great hero of the battle who was detained in Pakistan, was freed and sent back home, Dr. Hasan stated, adding that Bangladesh's victory was finalised on January 10, 1972.

Additionally, the minister gave heartfelt homage to all martyrs, particularly Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, who was ruthlessly murdered on August 15, 1975.

Regarding the January 7 national polls, Hasan Mahmud stated that a large number of his people participated in the election, which was conducted in a free, fair, and impartial manner. According to him, 42% of voters cast ballots, compared to about 70% in some constituencies.

The poll was conducted in a free, fair, and transparent way, according to the observers from the United States of America (USA), the countries that make up the European Union, and other nations, according to the AL Joint General Secretary.
He continued, "The EU, US, and UK have stated that they will cooperate with the government of Bangladesh."

The minister added, "Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned our Premier and congratulated her." Envoys from roughly 31 nations, including China, Japan, Russia, and India, met with the prime minister and congratulated her.

However, according to Hasan Mahmud, the countrymen have rejected the proposal from BNP-Jamaat to boycott the elections.
