Dhaka, Aug 12 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called on the interim government, led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus, to create a favorable environment for holding national elections as soon as possible. Fakhrul expressed hope that the interim administration would facilitate a free and fair election to establish a duly elected government.

“I urge the interim government to set the stage for elections promptly,” Fakhrul stated, emphasizing the need to overcome obstacles to ensure a truly democratic Bangladesh.

These comments were made after Fakhrul placed a wreath at the grave of Arafat Rahman Koko, the late younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, at Banani Graveyard in observance of his 55th birth anniversary. Fakhrul also called on citizens to stay alert against any attempts by the former administration to disrupt the ongoing student and popular movement for change.
