The Army Welfare Trust of Bangladesh oversees BAUST Khulna, one of the four technological institutions in the nation, and its slogan is "Technology for Progress."

By introducing its academic programme, the institution has, in the meanwhile, begun its voyage to Khulna. This remarkable technology-based private university opened for business in Khulna during the 2023–2024 academic year, enrolling 23 students in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Powered by the Bangladesh Army's Army Welfare Trust, BAUST Khulna is the fourth university of technology.

The technology-based university education programme of the Army Welfare Trust was initially launched in 2015 at its own campus in Syedpur. At Qadiabad, Comilla, and Natore, it subsequently founded two of these technical colleges. Their operations in Khulna started recently.

After crossing Shiromani Bazar on the Khulna Jessore highway, the institution is currently housed in a luxurious five-story edifice on the right side of the street. This is BAUST Khulna's temporary campus.

It is reported that the first batch of educational courses began at the temporary campus at the beginning of this year following the University Grants Commission's (UGC) November 2, 2023 approval of the institution's operations in Khulna. Only the Computer Science and Engineering department offered lessons during the inaugural session, but starting in the academic year 2024–2025, the university will be accepting students into five other departments.

Engineer Md. Mehdi Rahman Rana, an assistant professor in the university's Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), informed the Khulna Gazette that the university's operations began at the beginning of this year following clearance from the UGC.

Students enrolled in the 2023–2024 academic year are now enrolled in normal classes. In addition, the admission notice for the upcoming academic year 2024–2025 has been sent out.

On Wednesday, May 8, I went to Sarzamin and visited the temporary building of the university, a very neat, clean, and attractive building. Inside the building, there is a well-equipped library for students, a cafeteria, a workshop with modern and advanced equipment on the ground floor of the building, a seminar room on the 2nd floor, a physics lab, a chemistry lab, an electrical and electronics lab, and two computers on the other floors.

Lab, Survey Lab, Thermodynamics Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, and Civil Engineering Lab. The entire temporary campus is monitored by CC cameras for overall security and monitoring of all activities of the university. Md. Solaiman, a student in the computer science and engineering department of the university, said that he wanted to study abroad. But as I was not successful, I got admission here for the four-year course. I have been taking classes for the past 4 months.

I feel very good. The rules here are very good. Lab facilities are also very good. Our teachers give more importance to theoretical studies as well as rules. Kazi Saima Sultana, a student of the same batch, said, I got a chance at Bangabandhu Science and Technology University in Gopalganj. I calculated that it would take 7 years to pass from there.

And here, I can complete the course in 4 years. After completing the course, I want to participate in the BCS exam. I will get that opportunity. He also said that there is no student politics or chaos like at other universities. There is also no chance of a session deadlock. Everything goes according to the rules. It feels great to be admitted here. Teaching is done by hand.

The lab facility here is best compared to other private universities in Khulna. The university's VC, Brigadier General Md. Humayun Kabir Bhuiyan Khul, said, Our aim is to make those who will study here technology-dependent. We will teach them in a way that leaves a lasting impression on them.

They should give something to the country. Meanwhile, we have met with Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), one of the engineering universities in the region, and the VC of Khulna University.

They have assured us of all possible cooperation. VC Humayun Kabir said that the difference between Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology and other universities is that the students studying here, beyond the curriculum classes and practicals, are taught the need to build character, work with ethics, discipline, religious values, personality formation, develop leadership qualities, be physically supported, have genuine love for the country, respect elders, be loyal to parents, take great care in dressing, come forward with a spirit of cooperation, etc.

He also said that we are advancing very rapidly. This is our temporary campus. Construction of our own academic building and university campus has started on 13 acres of land adjacent to Wave Factory on Khulna-Mongla Highway Bypass Road, 2 km south of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). Hopefully, we can start our activities on the new campus by 2026, inshallah.

BAUST Khuln's Registrar, Retired Lt. Col. Md. Abdul Ghaffar, said that since the university is new, we are establishing a wholehearted positive culture by emphasising mutual respect and self-respect in creating its institutional culture. Which is different from other educational institutions in Bangladesh.

He said that the university has a system of giving scholarships to students based on their results every semester. Apart from this, there is a special concession for the children of serving or retired army personnel and freedom fighters.
