NOV 09, V7N-West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been handed a two-match suspension after an incident during Wednesday's one-day international victory over England. Joseph became frustrated with the field placements during his spell and, following a heated exchange with captain Shai Hope, stormed off the field, briefly leaving the team a man short.
In response to the suspension, Joseph acknowledged his behavior, saying, "I recognise that my passion got the best of me," and apologized to both Hope and his teammates, as well as to West Indies fans. He expressed regret for the impact his actions had on the team.
West Indies coach Daren Sammy had already described Joseph’s actions as unacceptable, and Cricket West Indies (CWI) emphasized that his conduct fell short of the professionalism expected of players. Miles Bascombe, CWI's Director of Cricket, stated that such behavior could not be overlooked, and the organization had taken appropriate action to address the matter.
The West Indies had clinched the series 2-1 with an eight-wicket win on Wednesday and will face England in the first of five T20 Internationals on Saturday at Kensington Oval.
