Jhalkathi, Nov 12 (V7N) — In an operation aimed at protecting consumer rights, the National Consumer Protection Directorate fined three businesses a total of Tk 14,000 for selling expired products in Barani Bazaar, Mollarhat Union, Nalchiti. The raid, led by Safia Sultana, Assistant Director of the Jhalakathi office, began at 11:30 AM on Tuesday.
During the operation, Tk 5,000 was imposed on a bakery, Tk 8,000 on a chicken medicine shop, and Tk 1,000 on an oil shop. A team from Nalchiti Police Station accompanied the raid to ensure order.
Safia Sultana stated that the fines were imposed under the Consumer Rights Protection Act due to the sale of expired items, reinforcing the commitment to protect consumers from hazardous products.
