South Africa's Lizelle Lee made history on Sunday with a record-breaking, unbeaten 150 for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). The 32-year-old opener smashed 12 sixes and 12 fours in her explosive 75-ball innings against the Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Lee's knock set a new WBBL record for the highest individual score, surpassing the previous best of 136 by Grace Harris of Brisbane Heat last year. Her 12 sixes also became a new benchmark for the competition. This performance marked a dramatic turnaround after Lee had only scored 71 runs in her previous five WBBL innings this season.
Lee credited her team for their support during her tough moments, saying, "I have to give credit to everybody in our team that kept on believing in me and when I was doubting myself and crying, and couldn't stop, they were there."
Her remarkable innings powered the Hurricanes to a total of 203-3 from their 20 overs. In response, the Scorchers were dismissed for 131, giving the Hurricanes a comprehensive victory.
