DHAKA, Jan 24, (V7N)—Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed met with players and captains from 15 of the 20 participating teams of the Meghna Bank Dhaka First Division Cricket League to address concerns over the league's uncertain status.
The league has been halted following tensions between Dhaka-based cricket clubs and the BCB over proposed constitutional amendments, causing anxiety among players about their careers and livelihoods.
In a press release, the BCB stated that the players shared their concerns during the meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. President Faruque Ahmed assured them of the board's commitment to resuming the league as soon as possible.
"The board fully understands the importance of the league for the players' careers and livelihoods," the release quoted Ahmed. "We will make every effort to ensure the competition starts at the earliest realistic opportunity."
The Meghna Bank Dhaka First Division Cricket League serves as a crucial platform for young cricketers aiming to establish themselves in professional cricket.
