KANSAS CITY, July 04 (V7N): England captain Harry Kane declared he feels in the best form of his career as he prepares to lead Thomas Tuchel's side against tournament co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16.
The 32-year-old striker scored both goals in England's 2-1 comeback victory over the DR Congo on Wednesday, bringing his tally for the tournament to five goals. The brace propelled Kane to an astonishing 72 goals for club and country in the 2025/26 campaign, following a 61-goal domestic double-winning season with Bayern Munich. His current haul is the second-highest single-season total in football history, trailing only Lionel Messi’s 82-goal record set in 2011/12.
Expressing immense confidence in his current clinical form, Kane noted that everything is coming together at the right time. Teammate Anthony Gordon praised the skipper's historic season, stating that Kane deserves far more appreciation as the greatest player to ever wear an England shirt. The Three Lions are now shifting their focus to Sunday's highly anticipated knockout clash against Mexico at the iconic Azteca Stadium.
