Dhaka, Sep 28 (V7N) – Internet users across Bangladesh may experience disruptions for up to four hours on Saturday due to scheduled maintenance work on the country's second submarine cable system. The Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC (BSCPLC) issued a circular informing that bandwidth services connected to the Submarine Cable Station at Kuakata, Patuakhali, will be impacted.
The maintenance work is set to take place on the SEA-ME-WE-5 (SMW5) submarine cable from 2:00 PM on Saturday until 6:00 AM on Sunday. During this period, BSCPLC will install lighting filters, causing bandwidth services on all circuits connected to the Kuakata Landing Station via SMW5 to be temporarily out of service.
While this maintenance is in progress, circuits connected to the SEA-ME-WE-4 (SMW4) submarine cable from Cox's Bazar Landing Station will remain operational. However, internet users may still experience slowdowns or brief interruptions.
BSCPLC apologised for the inconvenience and assured customers that efforts are in place to minimise disruptions.
