Dhaka, August 22 – The Bangladeshi ethical hacking group 'Cyber Community' has claimed responsibility for disrupting four Indian government websites. This action is a protest against the opening of the Dumbur Dam on the Gomti River in Tripura, which was reportedly done without informing Bangladesh.
According to a Facebook post by 'Cyber Community,' their hackers have temporarily taken down the websites of the Election Commission of India, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and two Indian banks—Bank of Baroda and Bank of Maharashtra. The group stated that their actions aimed to challenge the lack of communication from India regarding the dam's operations.
Cyber Community CEO Shakib Ahmed Tuhin had warned that if India did not address the issue within 48 hours, further cyber disruptions would follow.
Additionally, the Bangladeshi hacker group 'System Admin BD' targeted the website of Indian TV channel Zee Media on August 21. The hackers left a message on the hacked site, criticizing Zee Media for making derogatory comments about the recent floods in Bangladesh and threatening further attacks if such behavior continued.
