Since October 7 of last year, almost 29,000 people have died as a result of Israeli attacks on Gaza, according to the Health Ministry of the enclave.

107 bodies were transported to hospitals in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. With this, 29,092 people have died in all since the conflict began.

Women and children made up almost two thirds of those slain, according to the ministry.

The number of wounded Palestinians has exceeded 69,000, surpassing the capacity of the region's hospitals, only over half of which are even partially operational.

The battle started when armed Hamas members attacked Israel. Millions of Palestinians were forced from their homes when Israel repeatedly attacked the enclave in Gaza as a result of its invasion and use of significantly superior military force.

With Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to press the offensive against Hamas until "total victory," there are concerns that troops may soon advance into Gaza's southernmost town of Rafah, which is bordered by Egypt and where more than half of the 2.3 million residents have fled to escape fighting elsewhere.
