Toronto, Feb 18 (V7N) – A Delta Air Lines regional jet crashed while attempting to land at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, February 17. The aircraft, Delta Flight 4819, was operated by Endeavor Air and was arriving from Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time, with 80 people on board. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that there were no fatalities. All passengers were evacuated from the aircraft, and several individuals with injuries were transported to nearby hospitals.

The airport operator, Toronto Pearson, acknowledged the incident in a social media post, stating that it was "aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta plane arriving from Minneapolis." The FAA also assured the public that the Transportation Safety Board of Canada would oversee the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Following the crash, Toronto Pearson Airport was closed to arriving flights temporarily. Although the airport has since reopened, significant delays to inbound flights are still being reported due to the ongoing ground stop.

Delta Air Lines issued a statement confirming the accident, stating that their primary focus was on assisting those impacted. The airline also mentioned that initial reports indicated no fatalities, but some passengers had sustained injuries.

Zach Nolan, a passenger at the airport, described the scene as chaotic. After learning that his Air Canada flight had been delayed, he observed emergency lights flashing on the runway. Later, he discovered that his flight had been canceled, along with several others. Nolan and his family were rebooked for a flight on Tuesday and planned to stay in a hotel for the night.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with the Transportation Safety Board of Canada expected to provide updates as new information becomes available.
