Mar 31 (V7N)- The holy Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with joy and reverence in various countries across the world today, including Bangladesh and its neighboring nations.
In India, the main Eid congregation was held at the historic Jama Masjid in Delhi, where worshippers prayed peacefully, greeting each other with Eid wishes after the prayers. The Eid celebrations are widespread, with large congregations also held in states like Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Jammu, and Kashmir, where lakhs of Muslims gathered to offer prayers.
In Kolkata, West Bengal, thousands of Muslims joined the Eid prayers at Red Road, where Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the Eidgah Maidan to extend her Eid greetings. During her visit, Banerjee emphasized the importance of secularism, stating, "We are secular. We do not want any riots in the country. The common people do not want it either, but the political parties do. But we will not let it happen. It is the responsibility of the majority to protect the minorities."
In Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim country, thousands of devout Muslims gathered in the capital Jakarta for the Eid prayers amidst ongoing economic instability. Similar Eid celebrations are taking place in Malaysia, where the festivities began with the traditional gunfire marking the occasion.
Additionally, Eid-ul-Fitr is also being celebrated in Pakistan, Oman, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Brunei. Several countries in the Middle East and Europe, including Saudi Arabia, celebrated Eid a day earlier on Sunday.
Across the world, this year’s Eid celebrations reflect the unity, peace, and religious harmony among the Muslim communities, despite the various challenges that some countries face.
