New York, May 06 (V7N) – Reuters has been honored with the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting for its courageous and in-depth coverage of the global spread of fentanyl, a deadly synthetic opioid, and the lack of regulatory control over its trade in the United States and other countries.

The prestigious Pulitzer Prizes, considered the "Nobel of Journalism," were announced on Monday (local time), recognizing outstanding achievements in journalism, literature, music, and drama for the year 2024. The awards are administered by Columbia University, which has presented them annually since 1917.

The Washington Post received the Pulitzer for Breaking News Reporting for its comprehensive coverage of the assassination attempt on current U.S. President Donald Trump during a campaign rally on July 13, 2024.

ProPublica was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for its investigation into the tragic deaths of pregnant women in U.S. states with strict abortion laws, highlighting the medical delays that cost lives during emergencies.

The New York Times dominated this year’s awards, winning in four categories:

  • International Reporting: Coverage of the conflict in Sudan.

  • Analytical Reporting: Work by Azam Ahmed, Christina Goldbaum, and contributor Matthew Aikins.

  • Local Reporting: Joint win with the Baltimore Banner.

  • Breaking News Photography.

Other major winners include:
