Iran has strongly condemned the suspension of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's Facebook and Instagram accounts, labeling it as illegal and immoral. The suspension, announced by Meta last month, cited "repeated violations" of Facebook and Instagram's policies on "dangerous organizations and individuals."
In response, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian denounced the move, stating that it not only violates freedom of speech but also insults the millions of followers of the revolutionary leader. He criticized Meta, referring to it as the 'Silicon Valley empire,' accusing it of attempting to censor the views of a prominent supporter of Palestine by deleting Khamenei's account.
Amir-Abdullahian highlighted that over the past five months, Meta has censored Ayatollah Khamenei along with the displaced people of Gaza and the 30,000 Palestinian martyrs. He condemned such actions as absurd behavior by American platforms and called for the organization to be held accountable for its illegal and unethical conduct.
