Kohat, Feb 25 (V7N)- At least seven people, including five police personnel, were killed and several others injured after militants attacked a police vehicle in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to international media reports, the attack took place in the Kohat district on Tuesday when armed assailants suddenly opened fire on a police mobile van in a remote area.

Among those killed was Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Asad Mehmood, who died on the spot along with two other officers. Two civilians passing near the vehicle were critically injured and later succumbed to their injuries while being taken to hospital.

After carrying out the assault, the attackers reportedly set the police vehicle ablaze before fleeing the scene.

Security forces have launched operations in the area, and further details about the attackers or motive were not immediately available.
