Tehran, Feb 28 (V7N) — Israel, with reported support from the United States, has carried out attacks on multiple locations in Iran, triggering heightened tensions across the region.

According to BBC, Israel described the operation as a “pre-emptive strike.” Following the attacks, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a nationwide state of emergency, saying the measure was taken to prepare for possible retaliation.

Explosions in Tehran

Witnesses and local media reported at least two explosions in the western part of Tehran. Iran’s Fars News Agency said several missiles struck University Street and the Jomhouri area. A correspondent from Al Jazeera also confirmed hearing blasts from western Tehran.

Communication disruptions were reported across the capital, with mobile networks partially down and fears of a potential internet shutdown growing among residents.

US Role and Airspace Closures

The The Times of Israel reported that the United States participated in the strikes alongside Israel. US President Donald Trump later confirmed involvement in an eight-minute video message, saying Washington took part directly in the operation.

In response to the escalation, Israel announced the closure of its airspace to civilian flights until further notice. Iranian media, including Tasnim News Agency, reported that Iran also shut its airspace after the attacks.

Iran Vows Response

A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran is preparing a response and warned it would be “very severe,” raising fears of further escalation in an already volatile region.

The situation remains fluid as global leaders monitor developments and call for restraint to avoid a wider conflict.
