Tehran, Feb 28 (V7N) — A coordinated strike by Israel and the United States on key installations in Iran has sharply escalated regional tensions, with both sides confirming missile activity following the attacks.
According to Al Jazeera, the operation targeted strategically significant sites in Tehran, including the Ministry of Intelligence—considered the central hub of Iran’s intelligence operations—and the Ministry of Defense. Reports also indicate strikes on facilities linked to Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization and a military complex, underscoring the operation’s focus on military and nuclear-related infrastructure.
Iranian state media described the attacks as highly strategic due to the sensitivity of the targeted institutions. Soon after the strikes, Iran launched missiles toward Israel, according to the country’s military sources.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that missiles were fired from Iranian territory toward Israel, triggering warning sirens across several regions. In a public statement, the IDF urged residents to follow Home Front Command instructions and remain alert, noting that air defense systems cannot guarantee complete protection.
Israeli authorities said the Air Force is actively working to intercept incoming threats and is prepared to respond if necessary. Meanwhile, Iranian officials signaled preparations for what they described as a “severe” retaliation, raising fears of further escalation.
The rapidly evolving situation has heightened concerns of a broader regional confrontation as both sides exchange warnings and defensive measures intensify.
