Washington, Mar 10 (V7N) – US Senator Lindsey Graham has urged Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to support the United States if Iran launches attacks, emphasizing the need for a mutual defense arrangement. The remarks were made during an interview with Fox News on Monday and reported by Al Jazeera.

Graham said, “I want to say to Saudi Arabia, I am ready to make a mutual defense agreement with your country, to give you security and stability. I hope we can continue to discuss this further. If Iran attacks, we will go to war for Saudi Arabia. At the same time, we hope that Saudi Arabia will support us.”

He also criticized Saudi Arabia’s response to recent tensions, stating, “Our embassy was hit in Riyadh. Do you not feel any obligation to join us in the war? You have not done so yet. If you do not believe that the attack on the US embassy in Riyadh will trigger mutual defense, then maybe we should not make a deal with you.”

Analysts suggest that Graham’s statements are less about immediate US pressure and more a response to what he perceives as earlier US miscalculations in underestimating Iran as an adversary.
