Tehran, Mar 11 (V7N) – Iran has launched a new series of large-scale missile and drone attacks targeting key Israeli and US positions in the Middle East, according to Iran’s state media IRIB, citing a statement from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The IRGC described the assault as their most intense and deadly attack since the war began on February 28. The strike reportedly lasted around three hours, targeting Tel Aviv, Haifa, and West Jerusalem in Israel. AFP journalists reported hearing sirens and loud explosions in Jerusalem, while the Israeli military confirmed detecting the missiles and activating air defense systems.

Iran also targeted multiple US positions, including facilities in Erbil, Kurdistan, and the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain. The Revolutionary Guards claimed that no US Navy ship currently dares to pass near the Strait of Hormuz. Earlier, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright briefly posted on social media asking for assistance to safely move an oil tanker but deleted the post within minutes.

The Gulf countries of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates reported early Wednesday that they were targeted as well but successfully intercepted the incoming missiles and drones.

The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has escalated sharply since the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28, raising fears among analysts that the region could be on the verge of a major war.
